Annie Lennox set to rock the Scottish Parliament

SCOTS rock star Annie Lennox, rebel Labour politician Clare Short and an American president’s granddaughter are among the star attractions at this year’s Festival of Politics.

The programme for the five-day event, released today, also includes feminist writer Germaine Greer, Scottish novelist James Kelman and former independent MSP Dennis Canavan.

The festival coincides with the Edinburgh’s Telford College Photography exhibition based on the theme of Social Justice, which will be hosted at Holyrood from 10 August to 05 September.

BEACON AWARDS

The AoC Beacon Awards, launched in 1994, recognise and are designed to promote the interdependence of further education Colleges, business, professional and voluntary sector organisations to their mutual advantage.

The aim of the programme is to highlight the breadth and quality of education in Colleges throughout the UK and increase understanding of Colleges’ contribution to UK educational skills policy and economic and social development.

Braidburn School Leavers Assembly

I had the pleasure to be invited to the Braidburn School Leavers Assembly. (Braidburn School attend Edinburgh’s Telford College to learn Computing and experience life at a Further Education College)

We said goodbye to their leavers at emotional yet fun filled assembly. The hall was packed and the young people took part telling everyone present why coming to Braidburn made them feel special.
