Two members (Richard Bisset and Tom Bain) of the Design, Media and Computing curriculum team are attending the following staff development event on Wednesday 22nd October hosted by Cardonald College.

Members of the HND Multimedia - Web Development Year 2 class met last Thursday 16 October 2008, at Learning Resource Centre, Edinburgh’s Telford College to review progress with Adobe User Group Website.

The group have taken on the rebranding of the Adobe user group website as a Live project -

Each member of the team are given a role and assigned tasks.
We spent some time discussing the following -

·        Hosting of the web site

·        Communication tools (email, CMS)

·        Content material (text, images, video, audio)

·        Equipments reservation

·        Re-branding

·        Site production phase 1

·        Setting deadlines

Although we’re still at the stage of agreeing a structure and discussing site contents, we’re making good progress and on schedule to have the site available early December.

Good work so far from - Chen, Ross, Craig, Gary, Brendan, Kristoff, Akhlaq and Michael.

The 17 games developed by the Dare 08 teams will be showcased at a 2-day event at Old Spitalfields Market from 28th - 29th October 11am - 8pm as part of the London Games Festival. A CAMPAIGN to crackdown on people buying alcohol for under-18s has been launched.

Posters warning customers they could be fined £1000 for supplying drink to those under-age are now being pinned up in off-licences across North Edinburgh.

The initiative is the brainchild of the Forth Neighbourhood Partnership, which joined forces with police, the council and students at Telford College for the project.

I am currently discussing a possible collaboration with Telford and Napier students with Susan Young, Vice President - LOOK! Napier University’s Lens Media Society Napier Students’ Association. We are looking to make connections between Napier and Telford lens based media students.  The Look! Lens Media Society will be holding their Launch Party this Monday, the 13th of October from 7.30pm at the Brass Monkey in Drummond Street . www.thelooksociety.co.uk

Edinburgh TUC will sponsor a photography competition on the theme of social justice to celebrate the Edinburgh TUC’s 150^th year anniversary and Edinburgh’s Telford College 40^th. anniversary.

The HND Photography Year 2 students(16) will take part in the competition, as well as this we will ask the Introduction to Graphic Design students(34) to design a poster for the competition
